I've heard it said that if you have 2 or 3 really close friends in your lifetime, you should consider yourself lucky. I have to tell you that I have been abundantly blessed, especially by one friend in particular.
From the day I met her, I felt like I could sit down and laugh, chat and cry with her for hours. She's just the kind of person that you immediately connect with. Yes, we have similarities in our lives, but we're probably more different than alike. Yet, I still consider her one of my closest friends. I'm not sure she knows that.
She's also the most creatively gifted person on the planet, able to make jewelry, fantastic hair bows, amazing invitations and is a complete whiz at all things creative on the computer and the kitchen. It's nauseating, really!
Her faith and devotion to her family also astound me. Her husband can't possibly know how lucky he is, and the only way her girls will know how amazing she is is when they, themselves, become mothers.
She's probably the least pretentious person I know, but can look like she stepped out of a trendy fashion magazine at the drop of a hat. She makes Goodwill shopping cool, able to find amazing deals on a whim.
I truly believe that God caused our paths to cross at a crucial time in my life, just before my dad became ill and died. It was because of her that I was able to boldly step out and lead my dad to salvation. It's because of her that I'll see my dad in heaven.
So, as I wish her blessings on her birthday today, I am the one who considers myself blessed by the gift of her friendship. Happy Birthday, Erica! I love you, my sweet friend!
