My incredibly clever friend, Delores, shared with me a very economical secret of keeping kids entertained during long car rides. Buy a box of band-aids (available in their favorite character) and let them liberally apply to themselves. (I was too chicken about the subsequent removal so I let Kendall use her baby as the stand-in band-aid recipient.) This kept her entertained for nearly an hour on our very long trek to Oklahoma. Brilliant . . . and so thrifty!
